What is a Duolingo sequel?
A streak on Duolingo is the number of days in a row you've completed a lesson.
So if you log into Duolingo and complete a lesson for 10 days in a row, you have a 10-day streak.
However, if you don't log in and complete a lesson on the 11th, your streak will be reset to 0 (unless you have astreak freezeactive).
Your streak is represented by a flame. When the flame is lit, you have completed your daily session and therefore your streak is preserved. When he's out, you need to complete a lesson!
On mobile and desktop, your lane is at the top of the screen...

What is the longest streak on Duolingo?
As of February 3, 2023, the longest streak on Duolingo is 3,676 days, maintained by user christi3.

That means the longest streak on Duolingo is over 10 years!
cristian3You are not the only user in this category either. Currently there are 5 more with veins over 10 years old. They are:
- SarkaB – 3675 days
- Johnarnold – 3671 days
- Dee Ramm – 3670 days
- Jelinek – 3670 days
- davidbohardt – 3652 days
Since Duolingo has only been around since 2011, these 6 have been with the owl almost every day since the beginning!
How do you find the longest stripes?
It's very easy to see who has the longest streaks on Duolingo. You can also do this to find out where your lane is located!
However, it's not something you can do inside Duolingo. Instead, you will need to use a website calledduome.eu.
I've written about duome before because I think it's a really good tool for tracking certain aspects of your Duolingo progress.
All you have to do is go to duome.eu and the global leaderboard will be on the front page...

To find your own stats and ranking, just type duome.eu/[your Duolingo username] in your browser's search bar.
So for me I would write duome.eu/DCiiieee.
Then click on the number above your string...

This will take you to your position in the world ranking...

As you can see, despite amassing a streak of over 6 and a half years, I'm still nowhere near the top! I am currently ranked 2460 in the world, along with 106 other users!
What happens if you use a streak freeze?
The good news is that if you use streak freeze you will still show up on the global leaderboard.
However, it's important to note that Duome has two separate leaderboards.
The main includes all users, that is, those who used lane freezes and those who did not.
The otheronly includes users who have not used consecutive freezes.
It is also worth noting thatyou just need to equip a streak freezefor duome to treat you as if you used one. You don't have to use one; you only need to have one equipped.
For example, while I have several streak freezes equipped, I've never used one. However, duome does not include my profile in the leaderboard without lane freeze.
What will be the longest streak at the end of 2023?
cristian3You'll be the first Duolingo user to surpass 4,000 days if you continue your streak through the end of 2023!
If they do, it will stay at 4007 days!
Strategies for achieving a long-term following
Though you may not reach the heady heights ofcristian3, that doesn't mean you can't put together a decent Duolingo following that you can be proud of!
That said, it will take a lot of commitment, as well as a clear understanding of why you're doing this.
Consider some of these tips to help you grow your following:
Don't Ignore the Owl
When Duo says it's time toSpanish, so stop what you're doing and get to work.
OK, maybe not right away. But you get my drift: Reminders are designed to help you keep your streak alive.
If you get into the habit of doing a lesson when the owl appears, it will be much easier to build your streak.
Eventually, you won't even need the reminders, you'll just instinctively know it's time for a class!
be brief
One of the main causes of procrastination is not breaking big tasks down into small ones.
We see a gigantic task before us, and although we are capable of completing it, the idea of all the work we will have to do completely disheartens us.
The good news is that you don't have to do 5 hour sessions every time you log in to Duolingo.
Instead, keep it to a manageable 5 minutes to start. The key is to log in and do SOMETHING. Doesn't matter what. As long as you complete a lesson, timed challenge, historyopractice, your streak will increase.
if consistent
This one probably shouldn't be said, as the only way to have a following is to be consistent.
But I think it bears repeating!
If you want to amass a massive following, you'll need to make sure you're consistently logging in and completing at least one activity every day.
Try to log in at roughly the same time each day to form a habit. Maybe you make it part of your morning routine, or maybe you prefer to work on your language in the evening before going to bed.
Whichever you prefer, try to show up at the same time each day. Coupled with the owl reminders, this will help ensure your streak's flame stays lit.
Using streak freezes
I never used to recommend stretch mark freezing as I used to think it defeats the purpose of having a stretch mark.
After all, if you're losing days here and there, how far can we go about saying that the sequel is still a sequel?
That said, I'm starting to see there's a place for them. For many, the sequence total is more important than the accuracy of the sequence.
In that case, if you're looking for a way to maintain your streak, investing in some freezes might be the way to go.
They currently cost 200exasperatedeach on mobile and 10ingotson desktop If you miss a day with an active freeze, your streak will remain intact.
Remember why you're using Duolingo
Finally, and this ties in closely with the other tips, it's really important to remember why you're using Duolingo.
Having a compelling reason to log in every day will make it 100x easier to maintain your streak.
You might be moving to Mexico next year and would like to speak Spanish. maybe you have oneFrenchpartner and would like to be able to speak to them in their mother tongue. Maybe you love Italy and want to learn a lotItalianhow is it possible!
Whatever your reason, the more concrete it is, the easier it will be for you to build your following!
